We often receive positive comments, about the services we offer. This feedback came in by email just before Christmas to our CT Furniture Bilston branch. It follows a call to our collections team from a family who wanted to donate some furniture to us, after the sad passing of a family member.

It’s nice to hear that our team of staff and volunteers were able to make a difference and help a family at such a sad time.

December 2020

Dear CT Furniture

I wanted to write to say thank you for everybody who was involved in making the collection yesterday from my late mother’s flat in Wombourne. It had to be done in a reasonably short timescale due to giving notice on the flat and it was very helpful that Community Transport were able to do it, and for reasons I explain below, my mother would have been very pleased that the sales of her furniture in your shop will benefit your charity.

From the start Isabel took great pains to fit in the collection using a cancelled appointment, so it could be done before Christmas and specifically arranged for the collection to be the first of the day to give me some help in planning my time, as I have to travel 40 miles from my home to Wombourne.

The three men who carried out the work on the day, who I think were Clive, Rob and Dekker were really helpful and gave a very good image of your organisation. I know two of them are volunteers, so it impressed me how hard they worked in a good cause. I was grateful too that they called you and you agreed to take the gas cooker, as that completed the clear-out. If there are any costs in disposing of the cooker, I will gladly meet them. Knowing your policies that staff are not allowed to take tips I didn’t offer them anything, but I would have liked to. Perhaps you could pass on my thanks and tell them they made a sad task much easier.

Lastly, my mother spent over 40 years organising the Wombourne Volunteer Bureau which offered voluntary transport to hospitals and other appointments for older people in Wombourne. As a family we discussed which charity might benefit from her furniture and it seems very appropriate that it will support Community Transport in its essential work in the West Midlands.

Many thanks

A grateful customer (name provided)

Want to know more about donating unwanted items to CT Furniture?

CT Furniture are part of the self-funded charity Community Transport, which for over 50 years has been providing essential services and support in local communities.

Throughout lockdown, we will continue to look for donations of furniture items, anything from small electrical appliances through to beds, sofas and wardrobes. These items will either be resold through our network of North East and West Midlands based shops or via our online store.

We aim to encourage furniture re-use and reduce the number of items going to landfill – all donations will go on to help local people during these uncertain times. See how we make a difference to the environment.

All surplus funds raised are used by our charity to help and support more people, whether that’s by providing furniture or transporting those with mobility issues in our fleet of minibuses or delivering shopping to those who are isolated.

We offer a free, prompt Covid-safe collection from your home - all arranged via our website. Or to donate contact our collections team on: [email protected]

Helping create a better everyday life for local people since 1964.
