Passenger Transport Services
We operate 5 minibuses (4 are wheelchair accessible) providing group travel services for day centres, children's activities, voluntary and community organisations and many other diverse groups. We have also developed an inter-campus service for 16-19 year old students. Our minibuses are available to organsiations with their own drivers.
Key Achievements
- We make over 20,000 passenger trips - many for wheelchair users.
- We have 140 affiliated groups which is a 45% increase over the past 12 months.
Reach Out
In 2008 Solihull Community Transport was awarded Big Lottery Funding to establish its ‘Reach Out’ programme which offers transport solutions to Borough residents.
Solihull Community Furniture – Re-use and recycling service
We have recently taken over the operation of a shop in Kingshurst, North Solihull. We collect good quality donated furniture and electrical appliances which are checked for safety and offered at a low cost to the residents of Solihull.
Training Services
We deliver MIDAS, minibus driver training, and other transport related training to community groups and statutory bodies in Solihull. This is co-ordinated by our West Midlands training team based in Birmingham. For further details see our training webpage or contact John Griffin on 0121 702 0824/5.
Volunteering opportunities
We welcome anyone who would like to volunteer. We have vacancies for minibuses drivers and passenger assistants. Community Transport will supply all necessary training and we will pay expenses for people who would like to join our team. More than 25% of our volunteers go on to gain employment.
Partnerships
- Solihull Life Opportunities (SoLO) are a local charity with whom we operate a minibus sharing scheme, predominantly used by under 25 year olds.
- We supply drivers and manage the contract for the Colebridge Trust event vehicle which is equipped for public access and hired out for exhibitions and display work.
