Community Transport Newcastle promotes social inclusion and builds stronger communities by helping more people to access opportunities. We operate from two sites in the east and west end of Newcastle.
Community Transport Newcastle is entering an exciting phase in its development. We are:

working towards becoming a training centre which can offer local people a range of NVQ qualifications looking at the ways in which we can contribute to the recycling agenda, including developing an innovative arts recycling project.

We have 4 core areas of activity:

Furniture Recycling Services
The aim of this service is to provide facilities for local people to donate good quality furniture which can then be made available to others in the community. This reduces waste and recycles resources for the benefit of the community and the environment.
We also offer: Short notice moves House clearance and removals Furniture storage Testing of electrical items

Minibus Service

This service helps tackle social exclusion by providing low cost, fully accessible transport services for voluntary and community groups in Newcastle.

Our minibuses help people to get out and about and take part in a range of social and educational activities, maintaining links with their local community. In partnership with Nexus and the Quality of Life Partnership, we also provide a fortnightly shopping run for older people. Minibuses pick people up from home and take them to a local supermarket. This service costs £2 but carers travel free.
Our purpose built vehicles are very comfortable with user friendly steps and a tail lift. Our drivers are professional and friendly and deliver the highest standards of passenger care.
Training
We have built up an excellent reputation for delivering high quality training, skills development and providing work experience to local people. Our training includes aspects of retailing and warehousing and supports safer driving practice for minibus drivers. Driver/Assessor training including MiDAS Passenger Assist Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving Retail and sales Warehousing First Aid Volunteering.
Whether you are looking for something rewarding to do with your leisure time, would like to develop your confidence or need work experience, we have a volunteer role for you. We are happy to accept whatever time you have to offer and out of pocket expenses will be paid. In particular, due to the high demand from the community for our minibus services we are looking for volunteer drivers.
