Highlights of the last year

We have now been in the new National Office at Dean Clough, Halifax for just over a year - and what a change from the dinge and dust we left behind in Stockport. It's all helped to showcase a refocused organisation on the move.The new finance team has been the big success of the year. Alan and Maria are now in full control of banking and purchasing. Monthly management accounts are already helping projects to manage their service costings. 2004 will see us improve our banking facilities, the budgeting cycle and getting more benefit from our purchasing power. There is also still much to do in co-ordinating capital investment at all levels of the organisation.A real strength of the organisation is the way the senior management team (Project Managers and National Staff) have focused on improved performance and communication. This leaves the Board free to pick up its role in terms of governance, standards and strategic policy. Much of the year has been taken up in growth opportunities both in existing areas and in new areas.The biggest headline will be a return to passenger transport both in Newcastle - and in the city of Manchester in 2005, following agreement for a merger with the Community Minibus Agency. And there's more to come!
